Ascend Ventures to raise venture-capital fund

Ascend Ventures has set out to raise an initial venture-capital fund, according to a filling with the SEC.

The filing did not list a target size or first close. The Seattle firm includes partner Kirby Winfield, an investor in residence at the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence.
