New Enterprise Associates has promoted Tim Schaller to chief operating officer and chief financial officer. Also, the Silicon Valley-based venture firm has promoted Louis Citron to chief administrative officer and chief legal officer. And, the firm has hired Crystal Huang as a principal on its technology investing team.
Minneapolis-based Vergent Bioscience, a cancer-focused biotechnology company, has raised $8.7 million in Series A financing. Spring Mountain Capital led the round.
Sunnyvale, California-based YugaByte, a creator of a transactional database for globally distributed applications, has secured $16 million in funding. Dell Technologies Capital and Lightspeed Venture Partners led the round.
India-based Aye Finance, a provider of financial services to micro and small businesses, has secured $21.5 million in Series C funding. The investors were CapitalG, SAIF Partners and LFT. Unitus Capital advised Aye Finance on the transaction while JSA and Induslaw acted as legal advisers.
Austin, Texas-based BuildGroup, which "invests in leadership teams with staying power," has raised $330 million in funding. The investors were not named.
French AI robotics startup Exotec Solutions has secured 15 million euros in Series B funding. Iris Capital led the round with participation from 360 Capital Partners and Breega.
Los Angeles-based PolyCera Membranes, a developer of next-generation membrane technology for industrial wastewater treatment and process separation, has raised $9 million in Series A funding. Kairos Ventures led the round.
Eventador.io, an Austin, Texas-based stream-processing-as-a-service provider, has secured $3.8 million in seed funding. LiveOak Venture Partners led the round with participation from Deep Space Ventures, RSH Ventures, Capital Factory and Keshif Ventures. In addition to the funding, Venu Shamapant, a partner at LiveOak, will join Eventador's board.
Workday Inc has agreed to acquire Palo Alto, California-based Adaptive Insights, a provider of on-demand business performance management software, for about $1.55 billion. Allen & Company LLC is serving as financial adviser to Workday while Morgan Stanley is doing likewise for Adaptive Insights. Adaptive Insights' backers include Bessemer Venture Partners, Founders Circle Capital and Norwest Venture Partners, according to Crunchbase.
Chicago and Miami-based home insurance startup Kin Insurance has raised $13 million in funding. The company's investors include August Capital. In conjunction with the funding, Caribou Honig, chairman and co-founder of the InsureTech Connect conference and a founding partner of QED Investors, has been added to Kin Insurance's board.
