Romulus Capital has raised over $83 million for its third fund, according to an amended SEC filing. No target was listed on the document. Boston-based Romulus Capital is an early-stage venture firm focused on tech companies.
Smart Global Holdings Inc has agreed to acquire Penguin Computing Inc, a provider of specialty compute and storage solutions, for up to $85 million. KKR Credit provided the debt financing for this transaction and Needham & Company LLC was financial adviser to Smart Global Holdings. Penguin's backers include vSpring Capital, San Francisco Equity Partners, Weber Capital and Convergence Partners, according to Crunchbase.
Juvenescence, a developer of therapies for ageing and age-related diseases, has raised $50 million in Series A funding. The investors in this round were not named.
Andrew Alliance S.A., a Swiss robotics company, has secured $14 million in funding. The investors included Tecan Group, the Waters Corporation, Inpeco, Rancilio Cube, Sam Eletr Trust and Omega Funds.
Sunnyvale, California-based LevaData, which helps businesses improve gross margins by reducing supply chain costs, has closed $12 million in Series B financing. Tola Capital was the lead investor.
KRY, a Swedish digital healthcare provider that lets the user see a healthcare professional within 15 minutes via a smartphone or tablet, has raised $66 million in Series B funding. Index Ventures led the round with participation from previous backers Accel, Creandum and Project A.
UK-based metamaterials start-up Metaboards has secured $5 million in funding. Oxford Sciences Innovation led the round with participation from RT Capital Management Inc and Woodford Investment Management Ltd.
The UCAN Company, a maker of nutrition products, has raised $5.75 million in Series D funding. Kellogg Company's venture fund eighteen94 capital led the round with participation from S2G Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Simon Burton, managing director of eighteen94 capital, will join UCAN's board of directors.
Pharmapacks, an ecommerce company that sells health and beauty items, has raised $32.5 million in funding. RB led the round with participation from McKesson Ventures, Sealed Air and The Emerson Group.
Lehi, Utah-based MX, a financial data provider, has named Ben Holzman as chief operating officer. Holzman is a former managing director at Bain Capital Ventures.
