Online lender SoFi has named Executive Chairman Tom Hutton as interim CEO. His appointment became effective immediately after SoFi board of directors accepted company co-founder and CEO Mike Hagney's resignation following the disclosure earlier this week of sexual harassment allegations levelled against him. The managing director of XL Innovate, Hutton was appointed to the SoFi board in June 2012. SoFi's backers include SoftBank and Silver Lake Partners.
Costanoa Ventures has closed its third fund at $175 million. The Palo Alto, California-based venture firm focuses on early-stage tech startups.
CashShield, an online fraud management company, has secured $5.5 million in Series A funding. GGV Capital led the round with participation from other investors that included Heliconia Capital Management and Stream Global. In addition to the funding, Jenny Lee, managing partner of GGV Capital, will join CashShield's board of directors.
New York City-based Call9, an emergency medicine provider, has secured $24 million in Series B funding. Redmile led the round with participation from other investors that included Index Ventures, Refactor, Y Combinator and Western Technology Investment.
New York City-based Clinch, a video ad personalization firm, has closed $3 million in Series A financing. The investors included Richard Gati, head of BXR Partners' Singapore office. In addition to the funding, Clinch has named Boaz Cohen as chief product officer and head of business development.
San Francisco-based Augment, an artificial intelligence startup, has raised $5 million in Series A funding. The investors were Silicon Valley Data Capital and JAZZ Venture Partners.
San Francisco-based Carrot Fertility, which offers egg freezing and in-vitro fertilization as a workplace benefit, has secured $36 million in seed funding. SoftTech Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included Maven Ventures, Precursor Ventures, Sound Ventures, Sherpa Ventures, Core VC, Founders Fund and Y Combinator.
San Francisco-based Eaze, a cannabis delivery company, has raised $27 million in funding. Bailey Capital led the round with participation from DCM Ventures, Kaya Ventures and FJ Labs. In addition to the funding, James Bailey has joined Eaze's board of directors.
New York City-based Skywire Networks, a wireless broadband provider, has raised $23 million in financing. The investor was Metropolitan Partners Group.
Swedish social robotics startup Furhat Robotics has secured $2.5 million in seed funding. The investors were Balderton Capital and LocalGlobe. In addition to the funding, Daniel Waterhouse, a partner at Balderton, has joined Furhat Robotics' board.
