Retail brokerage TD Ameritrade Holding Corp has invested in a new cryptocurrency exchange called ErisX in a bid to offer clients digital asset investment options beyond the popular bitcoin, Reuters reported. TD Ameritrade clients can already trade bitcoin futures over the CBOE Futures Exchange. ErisX will allow clients to potentially trade other cryptocurrency futures, such as Etherium and Litecoin, said J.B. Mackenzie, TD Ameritrade’s managing director of futures and foreign exchange. TD Ameritrade joined more than a dozen other investors backing the Chicago-based company. Terms weren't disclosed.
Slack Technologies Inc, a provider of chat services for businesses, is preparing for an initial public offering in the first half of 2019, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the company’s plans.
Cannabis investor Canopy Rivers, the venture arm of industry giant Canopy Growth Corp went public this week in a debut that gave it a market capitalization of about $1.6 billion, more than double its valuation prior to the listing, Reuters reported. Canopy Rivers has made about a dozen Canadian and international investments, which include licensed producers, pharmaceutical formulators and retail networks. “It’s Canopy Growth’s proxy for Google Ventures,” Bruce Linton, CEO of both the companies, said.
