AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) has acquired Plusmo Inc., a Santa Clara, Calif.-based developer of cross-platform mobile applications. No financial terms were disclosed. Plusmo had raised around $4.4 million in a Series A round led by New Enterprise Associates.

Inverness Medical Innovations Inc. (NYSE: IMA) has agreed to acquire Free & Clear Inc., a Seattle-based provider of health risk services. The deal includes a $100 million up-front cash payment and up to $30 million in earn-outs based on 2010 revenue. Free & Clear raised around $19 million in VC funding since 2003, from firms like Kaiser Permanente Ventures, Polaris Venture Partners and Three Arch Partners.

Smith & Tinker Inc., a Bellevue, Wash.-based maker of hybrid online/tapletop games, has raised $29 million in Series B funding. DCM led the round, and was joined by return backers Alsop Louie Partners, Foundry Group, Leo Capital Holdings and Vulcan Capital.

Xenon Pharmaceuticals of Vancouver has signed a strategic partnership with Merck & Co., related to novel small molecule candidates for the potential treatment of cardiovascular disease. Under terms of the agreement, Xenon receives research funding and is eligible for up to $94.5 million for the first target and up to $89.5 million for subsequent targets. Xenon previously raised over $90 million from firms like Invesco, Roche and Takeda Research Investment.

BakBone Software Incorporated will purchase ColdSpark, a provider of email infrastructure platforms, for $15.938 million. Scan & Target, a Paris-based provider of SaaS analysis and filtering of text user generated content, has raised €1 million in first-round funding from Crédit Agricole Private Equity and Scientipôle Capital.

Enlight Biosciences LLC, a Boston-based developer of technologies and strategies for “fundamentally transforming drug discovery and development,” said that Johnson & Johnson has joined its list of strategic investors. It also said that its total funding now totals $52 million. Enlight had previously disclosed $39 million in funding, from Puretech Ventures, Pfizer, Merck & Co. and Eli Lilly & Co.

AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has agreed to acquire Wayport Inc., an Irving, Texas–based provider of managed Wi-Fi services. The deal is valued at approximately $275 million in cash. Wayport has raised around $155 million in VC funding since 1998, from firms like Seven Rosen Funds, New Enterprise Associates, Millennium Technology Ventures and Scale Venture Partners.

DigitalBridge Communications Corp., an Ashburn, Va.-based provider of WiMax broadband service to underserved communities, has raised an undisclosed amount of new equity funding from return backers Paladin Capital Group, RedShift Ventures, CNF Investments and Novak Biddle Venture Partners. The company also secured $16.5 million in senior and subordinated debt from Comerica Bank, BIA Digital Partners and Spring Capital Partners.
