Bain Capital Ventures hired Jeff Williams as an operating partner in the firm’s San Francisco office, where he will focus on infrastructure software and security companies.
Williams has over 25 years of experience helping early-stage enterprise software companies to scale and grow. Most recently, he worked as senior vice president of sales at cybersecurity firm FireEye. Williams has known and worked with Enrique Salem, a Bain Capital Ventures partner and FireEye board member, for more than a decade.
Jeff Williams has joined as an Operating Partner based in the Bain Capital Ventures (BCV) office in San Francisco.
Jeff will work across the BCV portfolio in both application and infrastructure software companies, assuming board roles and partnering with management teams to develop go-to-market strategies, build efficient sales engines and make introductions to larger enterprise customers. Jeff joins Kara Gilbert in the BCV Operating Group, who joined the firm 2015 and is focused on helping BCV’s software companies build velocity sales models.
Jeff has 25+ years of operating experience helping early-stage enterprise software companies to scale and grow into market leaders. Jeff has led sales at organizations such as GlobalCenter (acquired by Exodus Communications in 2001), IntruVert Networks (acquired by McAfee in 2003), and IronPort Systems (acquired by Cisco in 2007). Most recently, Jeff served as Senior Vice President of Sales at FireEye, a leading enterprise security platform. Jeff was FireEye’s first sales leader and helped transform the company into a market-leading enterprise security company, culminating in a successful public offering in 2013. In addition to his formal roles, Jeff has also served on the Board of Directors of cloud infrastructure startup Meraki Wireless (acquired by Cisco in 2012), cloud security startup OpenDNS (acquired by Cisco in 2015), and Adallom (acquired by Microsoft in 2015).
