Bain Capital Ventures names Yumin Choi as managing director

Bain Capital Ventures said Yumin Choi will join the firm as a managing director, leading the firm’s healthcare investing.

Choi, who will be based in Boston, formerly managed early and growth-stage investments at HLM Venture Partners, where he served as a director at companies such as AbleTo and Oceans Healthcare and a board observer at TYRX.

He said his focus at Bain will be healthcare services and IT for companies with B2B, or B2B2C business models. Several investment interests include behavioral health, consumer engagement and machine learning for population health.

He will invest across stages, with the flexibility to write $100,000 seed to $100 million growth-equity checks.

Choi was born in Seoul and moved to Hawaii when he was 10.
