BDC Capital taps Sévrine Labelle as Thrive Lab managing director

The C$100 million Thrive Lab will be launched officially in the spring of 2023.

  • Most recently, Labelle was president and CEO of Evol, a funder and coach of impact companies from underserved communities
  • Last September, BDC Capital launched its C$500 million Thrive Venture Fund and Lab for Women, an investment platform that supports the growth of Canadian women-led businesses

BDC Capital has appointed Sévrine Labelle to the new position of managing director of Thrive Lab.

Labelle joined BDC Capital following a 13-year career of working with entrepreneurs and supporting startups operating in various sectors and at different stages of development. Most recently, she was president and CEO of Evol, a funder and coach of impact companies from underserved communities.

“We’ve been very impressed by Sévrine’s leadership supporting and empowering underserved entrepreneurs to date,” said Karl Reckziegel, senior vice-president, venture capital at BDC Capital, in a statement. “With her unique profile, we’re convinced that she’s the right leader to build Thrive Lab and bring it to market by working with like-minded ecosystem partners, all with the objective of creating sustainable and inclusive growth along the way.”
