Cambridge, MA – December 2, 2014 – BeON Home, a Cambridge, MA-based start-up is pleased to announce a $1.5 million seed investment from Dangold Investment Corporation. With this new investment, BeON Home will be able to accelerate their timeline for developing new products by expanding the team with new designers and engineers. Dangold’s investment is helping make BeON’s vision of a simple, stress-free smart home come true even faster. Specifically, with this new funding BeON will accelerate its reinvention of the preventative home security category following the launch of its first product on Kickstarter: the BeON Burglar Deterrent.
BeON Home has also recently announced a few familiar faces as the newest supporters and “backers” of their product.
Ray Bourque, Vince and Bianca Wilfork have now teamed up to support the BeON Home team and its goal. By participating in a few short videos with CEO and Co-Founder, Alexei Erchak, Ray, Vince and Bianca explain why they believe that BeON’s technology is a “must-have” for everyone. Since the campaign’s release on November 4, BeON Home has raised close to $80K from the public, of their $100K goal. BeON has also received press attention from the Boston Business Journal, The Boston Globe, Engadget and TechCrunch, recognizing them as a truly unique smart-bulb that offers more value than just the convenience of turning bulbs on and off with your smartphone.
BeON has also announced that is has secured manufacturing partners and a robust supply chain to produce its initial products. This is a testament to the decades of experience possessed by the BeON team, including manufacturing LED lighting and consumer electronics products that have generated hundreds of millions in revenue to date.
“BeON has an experienced team that is executing a vision for a simpler version of a smart-home, designed for the entire family and for the mass market. Their first product takes a refreshing look at home security by focusing on prevention rather than reaction, and is clearly resonating with the market as demonstrated by their initial success on Kickstarter,” said Ashu Chalal, Partner at Dangold.
The BeON Burglar Deterrent is an LED-bulb system that installs just like normal light bulbs and works with existing wall switches. To fit any home décor, they’ve been designed to deliver a pleasant warm glow consumers expect from their lighting. After installing, the system learns and replays the family’s lighting patterns and plays them back while they are away in order to create the impression of a lived-in home. It even responds to a doorbell ringing, creating the impression of someone stirring throughout the house. Designed to be simple and stress-free, there is no system programming required, no service contracts, and no monthly fees. Users simply activate the system via the mobile app or wall switch. The more bulbs in use, the more effective the system becomes. The BeON Burglar Deterrent system uses built-in rechargeable batteries to continue being an effective deterrent even during power outages, when most other security systems fail. The BeON system also provides valuable safety features including general illumination during power outages, fade out, instant nightlight and exit lighting in the event of smoke or carbon monoxide alarms.
