BLI Messaging Raises Second Round

BLI Messaging, a Providence, R.I.-based provider of email, voice, fax and text messaging marketing solutions, has raised its second round of private equity funding from Catalyst Investors. It announced an initial investment back in July, but has not disclosed dollar details.

BLI Messaging, a business-to-business provider of broadcast email, voice, fax and SMS text messaging solutions, today announced that it has closed on a second round of funding from New York-based Catalyst Investors, a private equity firm focused on media, communications, internet related business services and software-as-a-service. Exact terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed.

“To have received a second round of funding less than 6 months following our first round is truly a testament to the dynamism of the growing team we have built at BLI Messaging,” said CEO Tory Williams. The funding will be used to execute the company’s plan to productize messaging solutions that address select industry needs. Following the success of the School Announcement product – an emergency alert and messaging service for students’ parents and families – BLI Messaging is now developing messaging products for Publishers, Real Estate, Healthcare and marketing agencies to name but a few verticals.

The news of the funding comes close in proximity to the announcement that BLI Messaging has been selected as a finalist for the 2009 Direct Marketing Association’s inaugural Future Innovators Award. The basis for this selection centers upon the innovation of the ability to create multi-channel ‘triggers’ for messaging campaigns within the company’s self-service online portal, WebLaunch. ‘Triggers’ allow you to automate follow-up messages to recipients predicated upon their action (or inaction) to an initial message. For example, a link in an email is clicked and that could generate a follow-up SMS text or voice message offering an online discount code.

BLI Messaging has served over 4,000 customers including the New York Times, CIA, United Nations, GE Money, New York Stock Exchange and Cadbury. Growth to date has been largely attributable to the company’s high touch service-oriented focus offering clients advanced technology coupled with excellence in marketing consultancy.

BLI Messaging began 20 years ago as a broadcast fax company and evolved to add email, voice and SMS to its platform in addition to ancillary services such as landing page creation, CRM system development, ad hoc programming and web design. For more information, please visit
