New Collaboration Platform Witkit Introduces Personalized Cryptography to Prevent Data Breaches

With $5 Million in Funding, Witkit Revolutionizes the Collaborative Working Experience, Ensuring Productivity and Security with a Proprietary Method of Data Encryption

January 27, 2015

VANCOUVER, British Columbia–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Recognizing that security is one of the biggest concerns for consumers and businesses alike, a new platform launching today with $5 million in funding is the first-of-its kind to provide a centralized collaboration platform where users can communicate freely and securely. Called Witkit, the platform allows individuals and businesses to easily assemble teams and groups within industries, companies, and departments to tackle projects and solve problems collectively, with the safety and security of knowing their data cannot be breached.

“Our intention with Witkit is to make the first fully encrypted global collaboration platform so that companies and individuals can more easily reap the benefits that socialized teamwork brings to their business challenges,” said Sean Merat, president and CEO of Witkit. “Witkit allows for more speed, flexibility, simplicity, and efficiency to take place between users without compromising on security and privacy. With our propriety method of data encryption, we can ensure that users’ information is secure at all times, allowing for individuals to be productive without worrying about a data breach.”

Witkit is a completely customizable, modular platform that allows users to create tailored collaborative workspaces. The platform includes all of the features that the current fragmented social collaboration competition offers in one place, giving users the ability to create a work environment with the right features for their needs.

When a business owner or employee sets up a user profile on Witkit, he or she creates or joins “Kits,” virtual work groups organized around specific missions or topics. Within each Kit, members can upload and access shared files, initiate and contribute to group discussions, post and respond to team tasks, and use a single synchronized calendar. Features like secure and encrypted storage, messenger and video conferencing services round out the wide array of services available at launch.

Kits can be private – with membership controlled by the organizer – or public, allowing any Witkit user with relevant interests or expertise to contribute.

Every Witkit user can take part in multiple Kits at once. Kits are completely separate from each other, ensuring users maintain distinct identities within each of their projects. Updates from all of a user’s Kits are visible to him or her in one single newsfeed, accessible through the individual’s account dashboard.

By enabling the encryption of all data, Witkit’s unique security technology, WitCrypt™, allows for a new level of collaboration that hasn’t been achieved before due to the security hindrance that other platforms have not been able to tackle.

“The vast majority of breaches today happen on a centralized system which contains sensitive user data,” said Merat. “WitCrypt technology ensures that the encryption and decryption of user data is only done on user devices locally. All data that is sent to the Witkit servers is fully encrypted and can only be decrypted by the user’s WitCrypt passphrase. We can confidently say that we’ve minimized most, if not all the risk, to user data being hacked. That is to say that in the unlikely event that the Witkit servers are compromised, there will be no decrypted data to be found.”

Witkit will offer the first 50,000 people who sign up for the platform’s launch 50GB of free data-encrypted storage and all available applications for free.
