Data Spotlight: U.K. tops list of European dealmakers in March, thanks to satellite company OneWeb

The London-based satellite internet communications company OneWeb raised the most capital of any European company in March.

The company raised $1.25 billion in new capital led by SoftBank Group Corp, OneWeb’s largest investor. Returning backers included Grupo Salinas, Qualcomm Technologies Inc and the government of Rwanda.

It was the largest venture deal in Europe during March, according to VCJ‘s analysis of data from Thomson Reuters.

The United Kingdom led all countries, with  36 companies raising a combined $1.5 billion in capital, or half of what all European companies collected in the month.

France followed with 21 companies raising $329 million, and 11 German startups collectively raised $185 million.
