San Diego-based Escient Pharmaceuticals Inc, a biotech firm, has secured $77.5 million in Series B financing. Sanofi Ventures and Cowen Healthcare Investments led the round with participation from other investors that included Redmile Group, Perceptive Advisors, The Column Group, 5AM Ventures and Osage University Partners.
