Fifth Wall hires partner for climate tech fund

Fifth Wall has named Greg Smithies as a partner to co-lead the firm’s Climate Technology Investment fund, which was announced earlier this year and is seeking to raise about $200m.

Fifth Wall Ventures, which announced earlier this year it is seeking to raise about $200 million for a fund to invest in climate tech, has named Greg Smithies as a partner. He will co-lead the firm’s Climate Technology Investment team. Previously, he was a partner at BMW i Ventures, where he led the sustainability investing practice, investing in such companies such as Prometheus Fuels and PureCycle.

Fifth Wall, which calls itself the largest venture firm focused solely on tech related to the real estate community, will use the Climate Tech fund to back technologies that could help decarbonize the real estate industry, as well as related markets, such as transportation and manufacturing.

In addition to Smithies, Fifth Wall announced it has recently made a number of other hires at the firm. Ravali Parsa joined Fifth Wall as a vice president and will focus on growth and investor relations. Previously, she worked in IR at Pantheon Ventures. G.M. Nicholas “Magnus” Vik joined as a vice president and will focus on strategy and operations. Previously, he was at Renew Health. Gabby Yo joined as an associate on the retail and consumer investment team Previously, she was at Walmart eCommerce. And Natalie Soto-Wright joined as an associate on the strategic advisory team. Previously, she worked at Barclays.
