Kippo, a dating and social app for gamers, has secured $2 million in seed funding. Primer Sazze Partners led the round.
LOS ANGELES – May 28, 2020 – Kippo, the first dating and social app for gamers, today announced that it has closed a $2M seed financing round led by Primer Sazze Partners with participation from industry leaders including former Tinder executives and partners at Eaton Workshop, NextGen Venture and IHEARTCOMIX. The capital will primarily be used to expand the interactive features on the app.
Most dating and social apps abandon users’ virtual selves—they fail to recognize the benefits of bonding over a digital activity like gaming, which can provide a great setting for getting to know someone. Kippo is creating a completely new way for its members to foster meaningful connections among like-minded people:
Kippo was designed with the aspiration of being the most immersive dating and social app delivering a better way of more deeply getting to know someone else.
Ninety-six percent of Kippo users have filled out their entire profile using its interactive profile builder that highlights each personality through a variety of “cards”. The most popular cards are This or That, Star Sign and Myers–Briggs Type Indicator.
Ninety-three percent of Kippo users go on a virtual date and play video games together before ever meeting in-person.
The company’s revenue has consistently increased 50% every month. Additionally, in the current time of social distancing measures, app usage has increased by 275%.
“The way people meet and connect has changed, but traditional dating apps have not. Kippo is removing the pressure and insecurity of meeting people online by designing an experience around users’ digital selves,” said David Park, co-founder and CEO, Kippo. “We couldn’t ask for better partners in Primer Sazze Partners, as they will be strong supporters in helping us build on our success and change the dating and social app space for the better.”
“We’re very excited by Kippo’s vision to build a truly unique, first of its kind platform for dating and social connection that is rooted in digital connection,” said Kiha Lee, General Partner, Primer Sazze Partners. “Now more than ever, consumers are looking for ways to meet and stay in touch virtually, and we look forward to supporting the team as they roll out their platform globally.”
Kippo is the first dating and social app created specifically for gamers to provide a unique platform for those looking to meet other like-minded people any time, anywhere. It provides a carefree and fun environment where the pressures and insecurities of online dating are removed, creating the possibilities of meeting people for more than just dating. The company was founded in 2019 by David Park, Cheeyoon Lee and Sean Suyeda and is backed by former Tinder executives and partners at Eaton Workshop, NextGen Venture and IHEARTCOMIX.
