PRESS RELEASE
GetBack Media Inc., the online pop-culture community dedicated to providing cool, fun, creative, interactive content from the 1960’s to the present, announced today that it secured $1.7 million in Series A Funding. Beringea (http://www.Beringea.com), a global venture capital firm focused on emerging media, led the institutional round joined by a syndicate of high net worth individuals and entertainment leaders.
Â
Getback.com has recently launched a redesigned web site (http://www.getback.com) and has since been rapidly increasing traffic and adding original content and syndication deals. GetBack has completed licensing agreements for thousands of hours of video and audio content and millions of images with major IP holders including Getty Images, Universal Music, Macrovision, Intellivision and many more. GetBack has the right to exploit massive archives of iconic music, movies and games content from the 60’s to the present. The site combines the best of professional images, video, and audio experiences with user interactivity in the areas of music, film and television, fashion and lifestyle, videogames and more.
Â
The GetBack originally produced video product “Retro Minute” is featured daily on MSN Video, Hulu, and PumptopTV, with Ripple TV launching in Q4 2008. Retro Minute was viewed over 17 million times last month. GetBack’s original editorial content is also syndicated through Yahoo!, Foxnews.com, Starpulse.com and is launching on ABC Radio Networks websites this month.
Â
Chris Dominguez, CEO of GetBack Media stated: “With this infusion of Series A Funding, we will continue to grow GetBack into the best pop culture experience of its kind providing an entertaining and social experience for our target audience. GetBack is more than just a website; revenue streams include online and offline advertising, commerce and content syndication deals with radio, TV and retail networks targeted at the 35+ age demographic.”
Â
“Though social networking, video and music platforms are some of the fastest-growing sectors of the Internet, one has yet to establish the definitive online environment for the 35+ age audience to interact, be entertained, and preserve one’s online profile and memories. Given that GetBack’s target audience is the demographic most rapidly adopting social networking and online video consumption and that GetBack has built a cool, engaging and rights-cleared media platform, we are excited about GetBack’s potential to become one of the next big brands and communities on the Internet,” stated Jeff Bocan, Managing Director of Beringea.
