Hamilton Lane has announced the appointment of a new chief financial officer and treasurer, as Randy Stilman, the incumbent, prepares to retire after 22 years with the alternative asset manager.
Atul Varma was set to take Stilman’s place on Jan. 6. Stilman will stay on for an undisclosed period to effect a smooth transition, as reported by Private Funds CFO, an affiliate publication of Venture Capital Journal.
Before joining Hamilton Lane, Varma was head of business strategy and CFO of wealth management at BNY Mellon. Prior to that, he was CFO in various divisions of Bank of America’s wealth management group.
Varma also serves on several boards, including nonprofit organization The Partnership, which promotes corporate opportunities for people of color, and the leadership board of Beth Israel Lahey Health, a teaching hospital associated with Harvard Medical School.
Hamilton Lane CEO Mario Giannini said Stilman had been “a terrific colleague and friend, and our employees, our board of directors and I are grateful to him for his long service and wish him the best.”
Hamilton Lane has about $481 billion in assets under management and supervision.
