Develops an electromechanical robot that guides catheters during surgery. The basis of the system is an electromechanical robot, which the physician controls from a workstation that integrates visualization, guidance and patient physiologic data. Once seated at the workstation the physician is able to instinctively guide the movement of diagnostic or therapeutic catheters to the desired anatomic location. The company, formerly known as Autocath, expects to begin commercial shipments of its Sensei system and disposable Artisan control catheters in Europe and in the United States in 2007, subject to receiving required regulatory clearances. The company is seeking clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the use of its Sensei system and Artisan control catheters for mapping the heart anatomy. Competitors include Johnson & Johnson, St. Jude Medical and Boston Scientific.
