Initialized Capital expands its marketing team

The firm, flush with cash from its fundraise in December, has promoted one and hired three to expand its marketing team.

Initialized Capital, which late last year raised $700 million combined for its main early-stage fund and an opportunity fund, has expanded its marketing team, hiring Candy Cheng as the firm’s very first head of content. Cheng was previously a senior correspondent at Business Insider.

In addition, the firm promoted Dani Metz Shuval into a new role as the firm’s first head of marketing. She previously served as chief of staff to firm founder Garry Tan, working with him on his YouTube channel and external communications.

Also, Daniel Sherman has joined Initialized as head of portfolio PR where he will work with the firm’s portfolio companies on their communications strategies. And Vivian Chaves joined Initialized as its first head of community, a role she began in September 2021. Previously she was at Eventbrite for more than nine years.
