In the past ten minutes, I’ve learned about two separate financings having to do with diapers. Really, what are the chances?
First up is 1-800-Diapers, or www.diapers.com, a baby products ecommerce company that has raised $7 million in Series B funding, according to a regulatory filing. Bessemer Venture Partners led the round, while return backer Brand Equity Ventures was also listed. No info on if fellow shareholders MentorTech Ventures or “One Laptop” guru Nicholas Negroponte also participated. Here’s the filing: diapers.pdf
The second deal was for gDiapers, an “earth-friendly hybrid diaper that you can flush, compost or toss.” The Portland, Ore.-based company announced a minority investment from 2x Consumer Products Growth Partners, but didn’t provide any details.
Is it too early to begin predicting a diaper bubble?
