Kleiner Perkins Tops Most Active List of VCs in September

In September, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers topped the most list of U.S.-based VC investors, putting $74 million to work in 11 companies, according to Thomson Reuters data. The Menlo Park, Calif.-based firm invested in Aerohive Networks, Datameer and Quirky, among others.

500 Startups ranked as the second most active investor in September, having backed 10 companies, including Chalkable, Gyft and Ubooly. Recently, 500 Startups announced that the startup accelerator Mexican.VC is joining the 500 Startups network to help fund and launch more startup companies in Latin America. Mexican.VC invested in eight companies during the month, including Boletia, Nuperty and Yaxi.

New Enterprise Associates, which ranked as the most active U.S.-based VC in June and July, came in third place in September, having backed nine commpanies, including Aerohive, Bedrocket Media Ventures and BuzzFeed.
