The Media Camp startup accelerator has scaled back its operations and laid off its San Francisco staff, according to an e-mail from its former head.
Parent company Turner Broadcasting, a division of Time Warner, shut down the Media Camp office in San Francisco and let go of its emerging technology staff, wrote Media Camp founder Balaji Gopinath.
Plans for the San Francisco accelerator are uncertain. Media Camp’s Los Angeles accelerator will continue in some fashion, Gopinath said. A Time Warner and Media Camp contact could not be immediately reached.
Media Camp opened its doors in San Francisco in 2012. It expanded its operation to Los Angeles in 2013 working with Warner Bros. Entertainment, another Time Warner unit.
