NEA sets sights on $2.5 bln 15th fund

New Enterprise Associates announced in a filing that is has begun raising a $2.5 billion 15th fund, according to the document submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission. A first close has not yet taken place, the documents states.

The venture fund is a slight decrease from $2.6 billion New Enterprise Associates 14 raised in 2012 and a small increase from the firm’s $2.48 billion thirteenth fund raised in 2009, according to data from Thomson Reuters.

If closed, it will be the firm’s fifth fund in excess of $2 billion.

The filing lists 10 NEA partners, including Peter Barris, Forest Baskett, Anthony Florence and Scott Sandell.
