Dublin-based Today Team ABC, a venture firm that focuses on travel technology, has launched. The firm’s partners include Dr. Clyde Hutchinson, Aurelius Noell and Brian Marrinan.
Dublin/Paris, Abril, 2021– Today Team ABC, an international venture capital fund that invests in sustainability and digital transformation in the transportation and tourism industries, announced its official launch. The announcement comes as the travel industry undergoes its biggest economic challenge in recent history.
Team ABC supports and scales early-stage disruptive technology companies focused on increasing the sustainability and digital transformation of air, land and sea transportation and tourism. The venture capital firm comprises partners with decades of experience in the logistics and travel space, including at airlines such as Viva Air, LEVEL Airlines and Tiger Airways Group, as well as seasoned investors and startup experts including the co-founder of Ireland’s first startup accelerator. Partners include:
Dr. Clyde Hutchinson: Clyde has led several international innovation and startup programs such as Propeller, Shannon, Ireland’s aerospace, aviation and travel accelerator backed by Boeing; and Viva Air Labs, Latin America’s first innovation hub for aviation based in Medellín, Colombia. He’s also an experienced mentor and evaluator having worked with EIC Accelerator, BlueInvest, EIT Digital, IRIS, and Enterprise Ireland. Clyde spent his early career as an academic researcher working at University of Cambridge, Imperial College and Tokyo University.
Aurelius Noell: Aurelius has over 20 years of experience in aviation and e-commerce holding senior leadership roles in fast-growing aviation businesses around the world including, Tiger Air, SE Asia, VivaAerobus Mexico and Viva Air. He’s the former CCO at Level Airlines (IAG brand) and Viva Air, part of Irelandia from the Ryan family of Ryanair. He’s an experienced investor and an advisor for Family Office in Austria.
Brian Marrinan: Brian has been involved with innovation and entrepreneurship for nearly two decades, having played a significant role in developing Ireland’s first startup accelerator in the early 2000s. He’s also the co-founder of an early-stage Fintech Incubator, the Co-Founder of Propeller, as well as a Board Member for the Market and Economic Group of Aerospace Technology Institute and UN Sustainable Blue Economy Finance Initiative.
By accessing their rich travel and transportation ecosystem as well as extensive industry partnerships, Team ABC reduces early-stage risk by supporting entrepreneurs in finding initial customers and ecosystems for their products.
Traditionally, travel has made up 10 percent of the world’s GDP and 11 percent of the world’s employment. The COVID-19 pandemic has upended the transportation and travel industry across the globe, and Team ABC has created its fund to support the next generation of travel tech companies who will lead the way post-pandemic.
“Having worked in the travel and transportation space for decades, we were inspired to create a fund that would support companies solving some of the industry’s most pressing issues,” said Aurelius Noell, partner of Team ABC. “When COVID-19 hit, we knew it was more important than ever to provide support to the travel tech startups that will lead the industry out of the economic downturn in the next few years.”
Team ABC has already begun to invest capital into startups, recognizing that support is needed urgently.
The first of such investments to be announced is into Yieldin, a provider of next-generation, self-learning revenue management (RM) software that has led to the startup’s recognition as a “Young Innovative Company” by France’s Research Ministry. The investment and follow-on support from the Team ABC partners will accelerate Yieldin’s sales and marketing efforts, while also expanding them into new markets, including Latin America.
