Next Games, a Finnish mobile game developer, secured $10 million in funding from existing investors. IDG Ventures and Jari Ovaskainen led the round with participation from AMC Networks, Lionsgate, Lowercase and IDG Capital. To date Next Games has raised $18 million in external funding.
Helsinki, Finland – Jan 28, 2016 – Next Games, the independent developer behind Compass Point: West and the critically acclaimed The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land, today announced an additional $10 million financing round raised from Next Games’ existing investors. Led by IDG Ventures and Jari Ovaskainen, and backed by AMC Networks, Lionsgate, Lowercase and IDG Capital, this new round brings Next Games’ total external investments up to $18 million. The new funding will be used to fuel the growth of the company’s existing mobile titles, as well as an unannounced third project currently in development.

The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land has racked up nearly 10 million downloads to date, having placed within the top 100 grossing games in over 80 countries on the App Store and 70 countries on Google Play. The gripping tactical-action title, which continues to receive enthusiastic reviews from players, will receive a big content update as Season 6 of the TV show returns this February.
Next Games’ debut title, the Wild West adventure-strategy game Compass Point: West, has proven a trendsetter in the industry by intelligently integrating ads within its core gameplay loop. Compass Point: West has seen strong engagement metrics throughout 2015, with 75% of the playerbase opting into watching ads, and will launch on Android devices this March.
