Pillar raises $192m, expands focus on biology

The Boston firm raises $192m combined for its third main fund and for Pillar Select.

Earlier this week, Boston-based Pillar VC announced it has raised $192 million in capital for two funds, including $169 million for Pillar III and $23 million for its Pillar Select fund.

The firm had raised $100 million for Pillar II in 2019.

In announcing its latest vehicles, Pillar said that the third fund will continue to invest in such tech as enterprise SaaS, AI/ML, crypto, fintech, hardware, manufacturing and logistics, proptech, and consumer markets. But the firm will also expand its focus on biology, dedicating up to 30 percent of the fund on the convergence of life science and technology.
