Venture capital fundraising revived in the first quarter.

A total of 38 U.S.-based VC funds raised more than $6.6 billion in Q1, up from 35 funds that raised just under $3 billion in the prior quarter, according to preliminary data from Thomson Reuters. The $6.6 billion is the largest amount raised by VCs since Q3 2008.

Some big names are raising capital. Bessemer Venture Partners last week announced that it had raised an eighth fund totaling $1.6 billion. Kleiner Perkins, last month, officially raised $932.3 million for its digital growth fund. Sequoia Capital also pulled in $1.3 billion during first quarter.

Despite these large deals, there are doubts that the VC fundraising market is back. We do you think?
