San Francisco and Washington, D.C.-based Recast Capital, a women-owned venture capital firm, has named Caroline Fernandez as director of programming and Ava Alemazkoor as director of network.
Recast invests in and supports emerging managers in venture.
Fernandez began as a Recast Fellow in January 2022 while a MBA candidate at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. As a Fellow, she worked closely on programming for three Enablement Program cohorts, and most recently led Accelerate’s application process and candidate selection. She previously worked at Elon University’s admissions office.
“We’ve been very fortunate to work with Caroline for the past 1.5 years during her tenure as a Recast Fellow, and we were continuously blown away by her thoughtful approach to her work and genuine care for the emerging managers we support,” says Recast co-founder and Managing Partner Courtney McCrea in a statement. “Her passion for education and enhancing the lives of others is an invaluable asset to Recast and our community of managers.”
Prior to Recast, Alemazkoor served as the director of network for Kauffman Fellows. Prior to Kauffman, Alemazkoor was the program manager for Orange Fab.
Recast Accelerate will support women and nonbinary-led emerging venture funds by providing access to Recast’s established Enablement Program. This capital could be used for the fund’s legal or administration expenses, and/or technology stack. The first cohort is set to begin in fall 2023.
Recast was founded by McCrea and Sara Zulkosky.
