Sony, Daiwa form $185 mln innovation growth fund

Sony Innovation Fund, the venture arm of Sony Corp, and Daiwa Capital have partnered to form a new investment vehicle called the Innovation Growth Fund. The fund is targeted to raise up to $185 million to invest in mid to late-stage startup tech companies in Japan, United States, Europe and Israel, and it is open to outside LPs. Investors joining Sony and Daiwa at the first close include Sumitomo Mitsui Bank and Osaka Shoko Shinkin Bank, among others. The Innovation Growth Fund will focus on AI, fintech and robotics.
