VC-backed GuideSpark appoints VP of corp. development and strategy

Menlo Park, Calif.-based GuideSpark, a provider of employee communications and engagement solutions, has hired Will Johnson as vice president of corporate development and strategy. Previously, Johnson headed corporate development and software alliances at Workday. He is also a former partner with In-Q-Tel, the venture firm associated with the CIA. GuideSpark is backed by New Enterprise Associates, Storm Ventures and IDG Ventures.


MENLO PARK, CA–(Marketwired – Dec 2, 2014) – Today GuideSpark, the leader in employee communications and engagement, announced Will Johnson as Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy, reporting to GuideSpark Chief Executive Officer, Keith Kitani.

Johnson joins GuideSpark from Workday, where he headed corporate development and software alliances. In addition to responsibility for OEM relationships and acquisitions, he had purview over an ecosystem of 50+ software and solution partners. Prior to Workday, he led corporate development, business development, and strategy for DemandTec, an early vertical Software as a Service vendor acquired by IBM in 2012. Will also spent many years in venture capital, most recently as a Partner with In-Q-Tel, the venture capital firm associated with the CIA.

Johnson will be responsible for GuideSpark’s overall corporate strategy, partnership strategy and management, and mergers and acquisitions.
