The top 50 venture fundraisers are making waves

The 2021 edition of the VCJ 50 demonstrates that the big firms just keep getting bigger. But how this robust fundraising activity impacts LPs and venture fundraising in the years to come remains to be seen.

One thing is for certain in this, our second annual ranking of the 50 largest venture fundraisers worldwide. And that is we can clearly see that firms are riding a crest of success when it comes to securing commitments.

The top 10 firms on this year’s VCJ 50 – all brand-name firms – collectively raised nearly $105 billion in the previous five years. Combined, the top 50 secured $211.9 billion in commitments, which was nearly 30 percent more than the $164 billion the top 50 raises as of last year.

As you’ll see in our coverage, fundraising has spiked. Take a look at the insights we glean from the risers and fallers, top takeaways, the growth of Chinese firms and the LP reaction to the fundraising.
