Canadian real estate technology platform Real Matters Inc has appointed Blaine Hobson its new chairman. Hobson, a partner at Canadian venture capital firm Whitecap Venture Partners, has been a long-standing director of the company. Whitecap led Real Matter’s seed funding in 2007 and has participated in most of the company’s investments since then, including the $100 million round announced in April. Hobson also represents Whitecap on the board of directors of portfolio company Qvella, a molecular diagnostics company.

New directors bring deep industry and public markets expertise

McMahon to its Board of Directors. The Company also announced that it has appointed long-standing Director, Blaine Hobson, as its new Chairman. Mr. Hobson is a Partner with Whitecap Venture Partners.

Garry M. Foster has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Baycrest Foundation since 2014. He is the former Vice-Chair of Deloitte in Canada, a member of the Board of Trustees of SmartREIT, Chair of the Board of Cogniciti Inc., a Fellow Chartered Accountant, and a Member of the Institute of Corporate Directors. Mr. Foster has worked with some of Canada’s largest and most prestigious companies, advising them on governance, mergers, acquisition and a wide range of financial activities. Mr. Foster has been appointed Chair of the Real Matters Audit Committee.
Frank V. McMahon currently serves on the Real Matters Advisory Board. Mr. McMahon was Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of First American Corporation, and Chief Executive Officer of Information Solutions Group (renamed CoreLogic in 2010). Prior to 2006, he spent 20 years as an investment banker with Lehman Brothers Inc. and Merrill Lynch & Co., where he worked on more than 200 capital raising transactions and 70 strategic transactions.
