Massachusetts-based Trilio Data, a provider of OpenStack backup and recovery solutions, has raised $5 million in Series A funding. The lead investor was .406 Ventures.
Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Kymera Therapeutics LLC, a biotech company focused on treating previously untreatable diseases, has secured $30 million in Series A financing. Atlas Venture led the round with participation from Lilly Ventures and Amgen Ventures.
Melbourne, Australia-based healthcare investment firm BioScience Managers Limited has appointed Dr. Michael Perry as a director, Dennis Purcell as a director and senior expert adviser and Nicole Vitullo as an independent director. Perry was senior vice president and chief scientific officer (business development and licensing) for Novartis AG while Purcell is a founder and former senior managing partner of Aisling Capital. And, Vitullo is a partner at life sciences venture firm Domain Associates LLC.
Paris-based HighLife SAS, an early-stage medtech company, has raised 12.3 million euros in funding. Sofinnova Partners led the round.
Beam Dental, a provider of dental benefits for small and medium-sized businesses, has secured $5.5 million in Series B funding. Lewis & Clark Ventures led the round with participation from Drive Capital. In addition to the funding, Ron Watson, a principal at Lewis & Clark Ventures, has been named to Beam's board of directors.
Overland Park, Kansas-based Farmobile, a farm data company, has raised $18 million in Series B funding. The investors included Anterra Capital and AmTrust Agricultural Insurance Services.
New York City-based Templum, a regulatory compliant platform for initial coin offerings, has raised $2.7 million in seed funding. The lead backers were Raptor Group, Galaxy Investment Partners, Blockchain Capital and firstminute.capital.
In the wake of the revelation that Steve Jurvetson, co-founder of Silicon Valley venture firm DFJ, has been under investigation by his own firm for sexual harassment, Heidi Roizen, an operating partner at DFJ, staunchly defended the workplace culture claiming it is not "predatory to women" and the very notion is "patently wrong." In a blog post, Roizen, a former Apple executive turned venture capitalist, underscored her point by saying she would not "work for DFJ if I felt the culture was not one of high integrity and opportunity for all — including women." Paktor Group, a Southeast Asia dating app provider, has appointed Ng Jing Shen as CEO. Jing Shen will succeed Joseph Phua. Also, Paktor has promoted Shn Juay to chief operating officer. Both appointments become effective November 1, 2017. Prior to co-founding Paktor app, Jing Shen was a software engineer at Amazon.com in Seattle. Juay joined the Paktor Group in 2015 as head of marketing. Paktor is backed by K2Global and MNC Media Group.
AngelMD has made an investment in Minnesota and Germany-based Artoss, a bone biologic startup. No financial terms were disclosed.
