Beyond Meat backer Obvious Ventures closes third fund at unusual amount

San Francisco-based Obvious Ventures closed its third fund at $271,828,182, an homage to Euler's Number.

Obvious Ventures, a San Francisco firm founded by Ev Williams of Twitter fame and was an investor in Beyond Meat, announced today it closed its third fund at the unusual amount of $271,828,182. The number is an homage to Euler’s Number, a mathematics constant used to estimate growth. Fund II in 2017 raised $191,919,191, a palindrome. Its first fund closed in 2015 at $123,456,789, which is the square of 11,111.1111.

Obvious Ventures initially backed Beyond Meat from its first fund in 2014. Other investments include Good Eggs, Magic Leap, Miyoko’s Kitchen and Urban Remedy. In addition to Williams, the firm is led by co-founders and Managing Directors James Joaquin and Vishal Vasishth and Managing Director Andrew Beebe and Nan Li.
