CenterPoint Venture Partners –

DALLAS – CenterPoint Venture Partners invests in early-stage high technology companies mostly in the Southwestern United States.

Since its founding in October 1996, CenterPoint has raised two funds: the $50 million CenterPoint Venture Fund I, which has made 14 investments and is completely invested or committed, and CenterPoint Venture Fund II, which held a final close in June on $100 million.

To date, about $2 million of the second fund has been invested, and the firm expects to invest the remaining $98 million in about 18 companies in the next two and a half years, said Robert Paluck, CenterPoint’s managing general partner.

CenterPoint usually invests about $6 million in each of its portfolio companies, typically over two or three rounds of financing. The firm focuses on telecommunications, Internet, business-to-business and consumer e-commerce, application software and semiconductor markets.

All limited partners returned for Fund II – Rho Management, Horsley Bridge Partners, the Stevens Group, J.F. Shea, Miami Corp. and a handful of high-net-worth individuals – invested in the second fund.

The firm’s investment staff consists of Paluck and partners Terry Rock and Kent Fucka.
