Cybersecurity startup Defendify picks up $3.4mn

Portland, Maine-based Defendify, a cybersecurity platform, has raised $3.4 million in funding. Maine Venture Fund led the round with participation from 3dot6 Ventures, York IE, Maine Technology Institute, FreshTracks Capital, Wasabi Ventures, Coastal Ventures and Opus Ventures.

The funding will be used to accelerate product development and team expansion.

Defendify has made several strategic additions to its team. It has added former Oracle CIO Mark Sunday as senior advisor, marketing veteran Emily Carville as chief marketing officer and SaaS business development expert John Mayfield as director of sales.

“Defendify is building a robust and comprehensive cybersecurity platform that is a fit for small and midsized organizations with limited IT resources,” said Joe Powers, a managing director at Maine Venture Fund, in a statement. “We’re excited to be working with the team, and it’s clear Defendify’s leadership is well positioned to continue their impressive growth, including significant impact here in Maine and beyond.”

According to Crunchbase, Defendify has raised $5.2 million in overall funding.
