

New Enterprise Associates, which is currently raising its 16th fund targeted at $3 billion, invested nearly $137 million in 11 companies in March, according to preliminary data from Thomson Reuters, ranking it as the most active venture firm of the month. (See table below.)
Among its deals was Boston-based DataRobot, which offers a machine learning platform for data scientists and raised a $54 million round from NEA, Atlas Venture Advisors, IA Ventures, Intel Capital and others.
Other NEA investments include Boston-based Placester, which provides a platform for real estate agents and brokers and raised a $50 million round, and Hayward, California-based Moximed, a developer of implants and which also recently raised a $50 million round.
Bessemer Venture Partners and First Round Capital tied for second place, with each investing in nine companies during the month.
Matrix Capital, which backed seven companies during March, put the most money to work, investing $178 million.
