MENLO PARK, Calif.-Doll Capital Management held a $42 million first close on its second fund in early June, and the group secured commitments reaching its $100 million target, said Managing General Partner Dixon Doll.
Doll Technology Investment Fund II, like its predecessor, will back early-stage telecommunications and information technology companies (VCJ, February, page 25).
Doll Technology Investment Fund I, which focuses on data communications and telecom, wrapped on $46.3 million in September 1997.
The Doll investment team includes General Partner David Chao and Venture Partner Peter Moran, and the firm plans to hire an additional partner. “If we find the right person, we’ll do it as soon as possible, but we’re on a target to have it done by six months,” Mr. Doll said in early June.
