IFTTT Announces $7 Million Series A Funding Led By Andreessen Horowitz

Put the internet to work for you.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.—Dec. 20, 2012—IFTTT has raised a $7 million Series A to further fund its mission to enable everyone to take creative control over the flow of information. The round is led by Andreessen Horowitz and includes participation from NEA and Lerer Ventures.

IFTTT (pronounced “gift” without the “g”) is a service that lets you create powerful connections between web applications with one simple statement: if this then that.

“The amount of information, number of apps, applications, and connected internet devices we use will only continue to grow,” said IFTTT CEO Linden Tibbets. “We develop intuitive interfaces that simplify the web and steward a brand that people love and trust. In giving people the ability to creatively control an increasing flood of information, countless hours will be saved, new solutions will be unlocked, and we will help people focus on the interactions that matter most.”

Launched in December 2010, IFTTT has added over 50 Channels to its platform including App.net, Box, Dropbox, Facebook, Foursquare, Google Drive, Instagram, LinkedIn, Salesforce Chatter, SkyDrive, Tumblr, and Twitter.

In June 2012 IFTTT made its first foray into the physical world by introducing two Channels for Belkin’s WeMo devices. IFTTT has since introduced the Withings Body Scale, the Withings Blood Pressure Monitor, and ThingM’s new blink(1) USB status light.

“While we are more connected to the internet than we’ve ever been before, we are also ever more siloed in our usage of web applications,” said John O’Farrell, Andreessen Horowitz partner. “IFTTT has achieved remarkable traction by enabling the average person to create simple yet powerful connections between their web apps. We are excited about IFTTT’s future and are looking forward to helping Linden and his team scale their business.”

The company aims to continue simplifying its design, extend its service onto mobile devices in unexpected ways, and open a Channel Platform for developers and brands to build directly on top of IFTTT. To accelerate its efforts, IFTTT is seeking creative, adventurous, and hardworking people to join in building its revolutionary product.

With this funding, John O’Farrell joins IFTTT’s Board of Directors. Read John’s blog on the IFTTT investment here: ADD LINK TO BLOG POST.About IFTTT
