IQ Capital adds 2 new partners to support new deeptech funds

New partners Archie Muirhead and Alex Wilson both joined the London-based firm as associates in 2019.

IQ Capital, a deep tech venture firm just raised $400 million for new funds, has promoted Archie Muirhead and Alex Wilson to partner. Both Muirhead and Wilson joined the London-based firm as associates in 2019.

“I am delighted that both Alex and Archie are joining the partner team at IQ Capital,” Simon Hirtzel, general partner and chief operating officer at IQ Capital, said in a statement. “Their progression from associate to partner since 2019 is a testament to their strengths as deep tech investors in massively expanding and developing markets.”

Muirhead focuses on cybersecurity and confidential computing. Wilson led the seed round in DreamFold, a generative machine learning company. He also serves on the boards of other companies including Imperagen, Pictura Bio, AiM Medical Robotics, Optellum, and Tagomics.

In addition to the promotions, IQ Capital announced that it had raised £322 million ($400 million) across two funds, including a $200 million growth fund focusing on later stage companies and a $200 million venture fund, its fourth. The firm now has more than $1 billion in assets under management.

Founded in 2007, IQ Capital focuses on deep tech, such as AI and robotics. It makes seed and Series A investments in UK and European startups to commercialize IP-rich breakthrough technologies.
