Extend, a provider of API-first solutions for merchants, has secured $16.4 million in financing. GreatPoint Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included Pritzker Group Venture Capital, Lightbank and Shah Capital Partners.
Venture capital investment in Canadian technology companies increased its pace in Q3 2019, with $2.8 billion deployed across 151 rounds, bringing total investment for the first nine months of the year to $5.6 billion. This marked the most active first three quarters in a year in dollar terms on record, according to final data released by Refinitiv. The number of financings in the third quarter was also up 34 percent year over year, while volumes in the first nine months rose 11 percent. Late-stage companies accounted for 29 percent of all rounds at the end of September, the third largest share ever.
Anonos, a data privacy and enablement technology platform provider, has secured $12 million in funding. The investor was Edison Partners.
LogRocket, a provider of front-end application performance management solutions, has raised $15 million in Series B funding. Battery Ventures led the round.
DEV, a social network for developers, has raised $11.5 million in Series A funding. Mayfield led the round with participation from existing investors including OSS Capital and Charge VC. In addition to the funding, Navin Chaddha and Vivek Saraswat from Mayfield will join DEV's board of directors.
Somerville, Massachusetts-based Neural Magic, a no-hardware AI company, has secured $15 million in seed funding. Comcast Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included New Enterprise Associates, Andreessen Horowitz, Pillar VC and Amdocs.
eGenesis, a biotechnology company, has raised $100 million in Series B financing. Fresenius Medical Care Ventures led the round.
Cover Genius, a provider of an insurance distribution platform, has raised $10 million in Series B funding round. King River Capital led the round.
Toronto-based artificial intelligence chip startup Untether AI has raised US$20 million in Series A funding. The investors include Toronto-based Radical Ventures and Intel Capital. In addition to the funding, Arun Iyengar has been named  CEO of Untether AI while Tomi Poutanen, a partner at Radical Ventures, is joining Untether AI's board.
IMMO Investment Technologies, which is building a European residential fintech platform, has secured a total of 72 million euros in funding. IMMO's backers include Talis Capital and HV Holtzbrinck Ventures.
