Farm-focused biogas developer Obeo Biogas nabs C$3m seed round

Obeo Biogas, a Montreal-based specialist in the design, construction and operation of biogas systems specifically tailored for dairy farms, has secured C$3 million in seed financing.

Obeo Biogas helps North American dairy farms become more sustainable by providing renewable energy solutions from manure. Along with the seed round, it announced signing a strategic partnership with Valmetal, a company specializing in agricultural equipment design, manufacturing and distribution.

The funds raised will allow the company to expand its operations and continue to innovate in the field of biogas systems.

On the fundraising, Francois Lafortune, CEO of Diagram Ventures, said in a statement, “We are excited to support Obeo Biogas’s growth and help them achieve their mission of creating a more sustainable future for the farming industry. Obeo Biogas’s biogas systems are specifically designed for the farming industry, helping farmers reduce their emissions footprint and improve efficiency.”

Since its inception in 2016, Montreal-based Diagram has launched and invested in 18 companies across three funds. This month, the firm said it raised more than $100 million for Diagram Ventures III to focus on partnering with entrepreneurs in the fintech and web3 sectors.
