Jakarta, Indonesia-based Shipper, a technology-enabled logistics platform has closed its Series A funding round, raising undisclosed sum. Prosus Ventures, formerly Naspers Ventures, led the round.

JAKARTA, June 18, 2020 – Shipper, the Indonesian technology-enabled logistics platform, announced today that it has raised Series A funding led by Prosus Ventures, formerly known under the name Naspers Ventures, to expand their business in Indonesia. Existing investors including Lightspeed, Floodgate, Y Combinator, Insignia Ventures, and AC Ventures participated in the round.
Shipper is a tech-enabled logistics platform that offers a one-stop logistics solution, from a multi-courier shipping platform to distributed warehousing & fulfillment network. In addition, Shipper offers more than 30 locations to choose from and plans to expand its reach to other cities and new regions in Indonesia to accommodate the needs of consumers.
Indonesia’s logistics market is projected to hit US$240 billion by 2021, roughly the same size as India’s US$215 billion logistics market (2020 estimation based on “Indonesia Logistics and Warehousing Market by Sector (Freight Forwarding, Warehousing, VAS), by Domestic and International Services – Outlook to 2021)”.
Despite the size of the market, logistics in Indonesia is extremely inefficient. In tier 2 and tier 3 cities, shipping costs can often add up to 40% of e-commerce basket sizes, serving as a major barrier to mass e-commerce adoption in the country.
Shipper aims to solve three major problems in Indonesia’s logistics aspects, including a confusing plethora of different warehousing & shipping options, lack of price transparency, and below average track-ability.
