Shuffling the deck at Bay

The team roster at Bay Partners continued to change last year, with the defection of one general partner and two other GPs going part-time.

In July, GP Dino Vendetti left to join Formative Ventures as a general partner. Following his move, Chris Noble and Bob Williams traded in their GP tiles to become venture partners at the firm. In the prior year, Bay GP Loring Knoblauch resigned and firm founder John Freidenrich retired.

Bay has made several moves to beef up its team. About a month after Vendetti left, the firm hired Richard Gorman as a venture partner focused on consumer, business and open-source software. He previously was senior vice president of products with Siebel Systems.

Bay also promoted Eric Chin and Neil Sadaranganey each to partner. They both joined the firm in 2005 as a venture partner and entrepreneur-in-residence, respectively. As of September, Bay was also in the market to hire two associates, one to specialize in consumer Internet investments and the other to focus on mobile devices. —Alastair Goldfisher
