Socotra locks in $5.5 mln from 8VC

Socotra, creator of an insurance core platform, has raised $5.5 million in Series A funding. The backer was 8VC. In addition to the funding, Joe Lonsdale, a founding partner at 8VC, will join the Socotra board.
