Rubrik, a cloud data management company, has named Brett Shirk as chief revenue officer. Previously, he worked at VMware where he was senior vice president and general manager of the Americas. Rubrik is backed by Bain Capital Ventures, Lightspeed Ventures, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures and IVP.
PALO ALTO, Calif., March 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Rubrik, the Cloud Data Management Company, today announced the appointment of Brett Shirk as the company’s Chief Revenue Officer. In his new role, Shirk will be responsible for driving Rubrik’s global go-to-market strategy. He will report directly to Rubrik Co-founder and CEO Bipul Sinha.
Shirk joins Rubrik from VMware, where as Senior Vice President and General Manager, Americas he was responsible for strategic planning, business operations, go-to-market strategy, and management of VMware’s business in Latin America, the United States, and Canada.

Shirk has more than 20 years of experience in the technology industry. Prior to VMware, Shirk spent 14 years at Symantec and its spin-out Veritas Technologies, rising from a District Manager in the Great Lakes region at Symantec, to Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Veritas Technologies.

This appointment comes at a time of record customer growth and expansion for Rubrik. In January, the company announced that it raised a $261 million Series E round at a $3.3 billion valuation from new investor Bain Capital Ventures and existing investors Lightspeed Ventures, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures and IVP.
