Enrique Salem joins Bain Capital Ventures as MD

Bain Capital Ventures appointed Enrique Salem as a managing director in its Palo Alto, California-based office, which the firm opened in 2011.

Salem will identify and lead investments in infrastructure software and services across all stages of development.

Salem has 27 years of executive experience in technology and security and served as CEO of Symantec from 2002 to 2012, according to his LinkedIn profile.

In addition, Salem has personally invested in Silicon Valley software companies, and he currently holds board seats on Atlassian, Clari, Cloudgenix, DocuSign, FireEye and ForeScout.

Bain Capital Ventures, which raised a $650 million fund in the second quarter, now has five senior investors based in Silicon Valley. The firm has made 21 investments in California since opening its local office, including Apixio, Aria Systems, Captora, Clari, Infoscout, TellApart and Wrike. —Alastair Goldfisher

Flagship expands team

Flagship Ventures announced in mid-July that it has hired Dr. Roger J. Pomerantz as a senior partner. Most recently, Pomerantz served as senior vice president and worldwide head of licensing and acquisitions at Merck & Co.

Pomerantz recently joined as president and CEO of Seres Health, a Flagship VentureLabs-founded company that is developing treatments for diseases related to the human microbiome.

Greycroft promotes Ansari

Greycroft Partners has promoted Kamran Ansari to principal. Ansari joined Greycroft in 2012 after working as head of corporate and business development at MyYearbook/MeetMe. Prior to that, he worked as an investor at Oak Hill Capital and Lehman Brothers Venture Partners, where he was on the founding team of the successor fund, Tenaya Capital.

Madrona hires Rosenthal, Davis

Seattle-based Madrona Venture Group has hired David Rosenthal as principal and Todd Davis as senior talent professional.

Bessemer appoints Karp, James as vice presidents

Bessemer Venture Partners has promoted Amit Karp to vice president. Sunil James is also joining the firm from Google also as vice president. The pair will work to identify entrepreneurial opportunities in startups in the mobile, cloud, security and infrastructure sectors.

Darwin names Jadallah partner

Darwin Ventures, a VC-fcoused funds-of-funds, has named Charlie Jadallah a partner. Jadallah was a founder and executive vice president at Merchant e-Solutions working in business development, bank sales and corporate development. He also worked in Oracle’s strategic business development group and spent time at Netscape Communications working on sales and marketing plans and developing the company’s ecommerce initiatives.

Raveh joins Commerce Ventures

Dan Raveh has joined Commerce Ventures, a firm focused on mobile, payments and retail investments. Raveh, a Wharton MBA graduate, previously spent three years at Viola Private Equity, investing in Matomy Media Group and Macrocure. Before that, he served five years in the Israeli Intelligence.
