YouTube scoops up BandPage

YouTube has acquired San Francisco-based BandPage for a reported $8 million.

BandPage, founded by CEO J Sider, helps bands and musicians market merchandise and connect with fans via social media, had raised $27.6 million in venture funding from GGV Capital and Mohr Davidow Ventures, among others, according to data from Thomson Reuters.

“Today we take a big step forward in our mission to create a better future for musicians around the world,” BandPage wrote in a blog post. “We are very excited to announce that BandPage is joining YouTube, a move which dramatically accelerates our shared goal of helping musicians everywhere thrive.”
