Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Gradient AI, an enterprise software provider of artificial intelligence solutions in the insurance technology space, has raised $6 million in Series A financing. Forte Ventures and Sandbox Insurtech Ventures led the round with participation from other backers that included MassMutual Ventures.
Osaro Inc, a provider of machine learning software for industrial automation, has secured $16 million in Series B funding. The investors included King River Capital, Alpha Intelligence Capital, Founders Fund, Pegasus Tech Ventures and GiTV Fund.
Notion Capital has raised over $150 million for its fourth fund, according to a post on its site. Notion is a venture firm that invests in B2B SaaS companies in Europe.
Woburn, Massachusetts-based Frequency Therapeutics, a biotech firm, has raised about $84 million for its IPO after pricing its 6 million share at $14 per share. The stock began trading October 3, 2019 on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol "FREQ." J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs and Cowen are the lead underwriters. Frequency's pre-IPO backers include Perceptive Advisors.
Menlo Park, California-based Adicet Bio Inc, a biopharmaceutical company, has raised $80 million in Series B financing. The investors include aMoon2 Fund, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JJDC Inc, Samsung Venture Investment Corporation, OrbiMed, Novartis Venture Fund and Pontifax.
Seattle-based vaccines developer Icosavax has secured $52 million in Series A funding. Qiming Venture Partners USA led the round with participation from Adams Street Partners, Sanofi Ventures and NanoDimension.
Calgary-based Pason Systems Inc, a provider of specialized data management systems for drilling rigs, has agreed to acquire a minority stake in Intelligent Wellhead Systems Inc for $25 million. In addition to Pason's investment, Werklund Growth Fund LP has invested $10 million in IWS. Credit Suisse acted as financial adviser to WFO. Headquartered in Calgary, IWS is an oil and gas technology and service company.
Montreal-based Korbit Technologies, a education technology startup, has secured over US$2 million in seed funding. Khosla Ventures was the lead investor. Korbit is a spin-off from the Montreal-based Mila lab led by professor Yoshua Bengio.
The Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation and Barings have launched the Alaska Future Fund. The fund has already secured a commitment of $100 million. It will target private funds and private market businesses/projects that are either based in Alaska, have investment operations in Alaska or have a current bona fide plan to operate in Alaska.
New York City-based Riskcast Solutions, a brick city startup, has secured $600,000 in funding. Newark Venture Partners led the round with participation from Scopus Ventures.
